I want to share with you all a quilt that my twin sister made out of fat quarters. She calls it “Pristine and Purple” and that is just the perfect name! It is a full size (laying on a queen bed) and just looks amazing. It is all strip piecing, and went together super fast.

It isnt finished yet, but as soon as we find the perfect backing and get it quilted we will share finished pictures! I just couldnt wait to share this amazing top with you all. She has also made this fantastic t-shirt quilt for our high school wrestling coach. We have stayed close friends since school and she wanted to make him something special. She rounded up all of his old shirts and made this amazing quilt!

Here she is with Coach Baker!

Quilting done by hand (free motion) on her regular sewing machine. This quilt is finished just a bit larger than standard queen. I hope everyone is having a great weekend, I know we sure are enjoying these cooler temperatures here in Texas! Till next time, Happy Quilting!

Thank you everyone that came by my blog and entered into my contest. I am just overwhelmed by the number of entries! I never could have hoped to get so many, and with it so many new quilting buddies. The winner was drawn by random generated number and the winner is….

Kimberly Cassie!
Congratulations Kimberly. I hope you enjoy your new fabric!

I have really enjoyed participating in this give-away, and I hope that I will be able to do them more often. For now, I must go finish my homework for school (so much homework!) so I can have all weekend to work on my current quilt project! Anyone remember this from last year?

It is starting to look more like this! ^_^

I cant wait to get back to it! Happy sewing everyone!

Wow! I cannot believe the amount of entries I have received for the contest. I have really enjoyed reading everyone’s comments! There is still one day left to enter, so go enter here if you haven’t. (last day to enter is Sept. 6th, drawing will be on the 7th!)

School has been taking up most of my time lately, but I hope that things will die down in the next few weeks once I’m back in the swing of things. I really miss sewing! I have many (probably too many) projects lined up in front of me, and I just can’t wait to get working on them and (hopefully!) get them all finished. One of these days I am going to catalog my “UFO” quilts and line them up to get finished. Maybe I will share them all here!

Anyway! Today I want to share with you another orange quilt. This is the third (orange) I have made this year, all going to the same family. The first was for my niece, Sadie, and the second was for her mom (my sister) Ryan. This one is going to new baby girl, Ella, and was designed to coordinate with her sisters since they are sharing a room.

My intention was for this one to be more pink than orange, but then offset that with the bright orange fleece backing! Oops! 🙂 It was a scrap from my stash and ended up being the perfect size. I added little felt pieces and ribbons with buttons for texture, and quilted it on my machine with a dragonfly pattern.

I hope you enjoyed this one, until next time, Happy Sewing!

Here is a quick update of things going on in my life right now. I am back in college! My schedule is filled with lots of classes and I am working on getting back into the groove and getting settled. I still have a few quilts from Christmas time that have not been gifted (I know im WAY behind) but I will share those with you very soon. I am registering for a few quilt swaps soon and will post my progress for those here.

For now though, here is the fence rail baby quilt that finally made its way across the world to my niece Leah in Australia.  I hope she enjoys it for a long time to come. Its all flannel in pink, white and purple. Hand quilted with a soft pink, and bound in a complimenting fabric.

For now, its back to homework for me! I hope everyone has a great week. 🙂

HAPPY NEW YEAR! ^_^ My resolution this year is to finish my clamshell. Its my biggest unfinished project (king-size hand pieced applique) and I just dont give it enough time. But I will finish it! Hopefully very soon 🙂

Today im happy to share a quilt that my sister Mindy made for her boyfriend Andrew. He is a graduate from Texas Tech and loves red and black! This the quilt that we based our nephews red and black comforter quilt on, and is much much larger. Measuring about 89×95, its a little oversized for a queen. Its made with the same ‘patience’ nine patch, with solid sashing and red and black borders, all tied together with a simple black bind. Its machine quilted in the ditch, and I must say that it turned out beautiful. I love how even with the sashing the blocks turn into sort of stair-step stripes. I love this pattern!

Did I mention that this is her first quilt? It is unbelievable how amazingly she did.

I hope everyone has a wonderful year in 2012 and that everyone gets lots and lots of sewing done 🙂  Next quilt is another big one and will be up very soon!
