Wow! I cannot believe the amount of entries I have received for the contest. I have really enjoyed reading everyone’s comments! There is still one day left to enter, so go enter here if you haven’t. (last day to enter is Sept. 6th, drawing will be on the 7th!)

School has been taking up most of my time lately, but I hope that things will die down in the next few weeks once I’m back in the swing of things. I really miss sewing! I have many (probably too many) projects lined up in front of me, and I just can’t wait to get working on them and (hopefully!) get them all finished. One of these days I am going to catalog my “UFO” quilts and line them up to get finished. Maybe I will share them all here!

Anyway! Today I want to share with you another orange quilt. This is the third (orange) I have made this year, all going to the same family. The first was for my niece, Sadie, and the second was for her mom (my sister) Ryan. This one is going to new baby girl, Ella, and was designed to coordinate with her sisters since they are sharing a room.

My intention was for this one to be more pink than orange, but then offset that with the bright orange fleece backing! Oops! 🙂 It was a scrap from my stash and ended up being the perfect size. I added little felt pieces and ribbons with buttons for texture, and quilted it on my machine with a dragonfly pattern.

I hope you enjoyed this one, until next time, Happy Sewing!

Sure has been a while since I have shared anything here, I apologize! Life has been hectic with school and well, just life! I have kept up with my sewing activities and have lots of things to share. Today is a quilt that I made for my sister Ryan, who’s favorite color is orange and she just loves dragonflies.

The dragonflies are appliqued on by hand and I used a stipple pattern on the bulk of the quilt. There is a small scroll quilting around the outside on the border and I finished it off with a brown and black binding to really frame the finished product. I hope she enjoys her orange quilt!

Next time I will share a quick and easy sewing machine cover tutorial with you all. Until then, happy sewing everyone!

Like I said in my last post, I have a lot of projects going on during the holidays, and as more are finished and gifts are given I will reveal  more and more. Today I would like to share this amazing orange themed baby quilt. I made it for my niece Sadie, who just turned one! Happy birthday sweetie!

Its just a random jumble of coordinating patches, coordinating border quilted in waves with ric rac and finished with a satin binding. I used a simple zigzag to attach the binding and I added little felt buttons to the corners to cover the mitered edges. I also used a single piece of a super soft fleece for the backing. The flower’s colors matched perfectly! Finally I quilted it free-hand on my machine with some big swirls to add lots of texture.

Here is little Sadie and her Gran getting her first look at her quilt.

I hope everyone is having a great time this holiday season and getting lots of sewing done 🙂 Lots more soon!
