Wow! I cannot believe the amount of entries I have received for the contest. I have really enjoyed reading everyone’s comments! There is still one day left to enter, so go enter here if you haven’t. (last day to enter is Sept. 6th, drawing will be on the 7th!)

School has been taking up most of my time lately, but I hope that things will die down in the next few weeks once I’m back in the swing of things. I really miss sewing! I have many (probably too many) projects lined up in front of me, and I just can’t wait to get working on them and (hopefully!) get them all finished. One of these days I am going to catalog my “UFO” quilts and line them up to get finished. Maybe I will share them all here!

Anyway! Today I want to share with you another orange quilt. This is the third (orange) I have made this year, all going to the same family. The first was for my niece, Sadie, and the second was for her mom (my sister) Ryan. This one is going to new baby girl, Ella, and was designed to coordinate with her sisters since they are sharing a room.

My intention was for this one to be more pink than orange, but then offset that with the bright orange fleece backing! Oops! 🙂 It was a scrap from my stash and ended up being the perfect size. I added little felt pieces and ribbons with buttons for texture, and quilted it on my machine with a dragonfly pattern.

I hope you enjoyed this one, until next time, Happy Sewing!

Here is a quick update of things going on in my life right now. I am back in college! My schedule is filled with lots of classes and I am working on getting back into the groove and getting settled. I still have a few quilts from Christmas time that have not been gifted (I know im WAY behind) but I will share those with you very soon. I am registering for a few quilt swaps soon and will post my progress for those here.

For now though, here is the fence rail baby quilt that finally made its way across the world to my niece Leah in Australia.  I hope she enjoys it for a long time to come. Its all flannel in pink, white and purple. Hand quilted with a soft pink, and bound in a complimenting fabric.

For now, its back to homework for me! I hope everyone has a great week. 🙂

Like I said in my last post, I have a lot of projects going on during the holidays, and as more are finished and gifts are given I will reveal  more and more. Today I would like to share this amazing orange themed baby quilt. I made it for my niece Sadie, who just turned one! Happy birthday sweetie!

Its just a random jumble of coordinating patches, coordinating border quilted in waves with ric rac and finished with a satin binding. I used a simple zigzag to attach the binding and I added little felt buttons to the corners to cover the mitered edges. I also used a single piece of a super soft fleece for the backing. The flower’s colors matched perfectly! Finally I quilted it free-hand on my machine with some big swirls to add lots of texture.

Here is little Sadie and her Gran getting her first look at her quilt.

I hope everyone is having a great time this holiday season and getting lots of sewing done 🙂 Lots more soon!

Its actually cool enough to go outside and not melt today!  I finally finished the baby fence rail quilt today, and I love it! I was afraid the binding would be a bit too dark once I started sewing it on, but it turned out great.

So that ones done, only project left unfinished right now is the dresden… and what a burden she is turning out to be. Somehow in my calculations I messed up and didnt get enough fabric for the sashing. I even bought extra at the time incase I was wrong, but I was double wrong. (haha) So here she sits nearly complete, just waiting till I can get back to the fabric store to get more.

On a much better note! My twin sister is coming for a visit! Maybe if we can make time we can make a new tutorial for maybe a saw tooth or maybe some paper piecing. I cant wait!

Great day! I ran down the street to get a few things to make my boyfriend breakfast tomorrow (his only day off this week :() and all the fat quarter stock was on super duper clearance!!! I grabbed a bunch of black and whites, which are my favorites I think.

I have a few sewing projects working right now, and even though i’ve finished all of my flowers for my red dresden, I cant seem to focus on finishing it. Lots and lots of applique ahead of me and I just gotta sit down and do it. I did get a bunch of cream FQ’s to use and backgrounds so I will get started on that ASAP!

And just to share another project i’m working on, a baby fence rail. Here are a few of the strips about ready to be completed.

What are you working on this summer? Id love to hear about your projects!
